Ok so the site is up, Ducks are in a row, how do I start getting visitors to the site? Well first hit is friends and family. One of the more popular sections of my site is the Friday funnies but to be honest I really need to keep this up to date. Another method is the viral content. My burger king stackers made its way around a few email list and that lifted the stats up. The down side is I don’t think the site is “Sticky “enough to get users coming back frequently.
So what do I do to get the sites stickiness up ? well I need to provide something they are not getting elsewhere, whether its compelling political ramblings or amusing Friday work dodging humour it needs to be better.

So how are my stats stacking up?
I guess this isn't too bad. The last week I have spent setting up some good foundations with the RSS and cache tools. The next week I am going to start focusing on driving traffic to this site.

For the definition of what synapses is click here. Now the reason I chose it ? I hope this blog becomes a place people can meet and make connections to move onto better things. also once it beomes a bit more popular I can use it as a lunchpad for other projects.

SEO , Search Engine optimisation. Well looking at it now the title for this series is boarding the failboat. I came across this tip which advises how best to title your posts. I am going to start doing this but the current 30 Days post will not change. Point of the story? keep them specific and simple and defined.
The average Kiwi really is better off
I just read this article on stuff by Chris Worthington from infometrics and I have to say, this is why countries have problems now I don't mean to disrespect economists but you seem to have cherry picked a few stats and massaged them to prove your point and this article appears to be missing the sponsored by Labour logo.
Now I understand when you say people are more likely to point at where prices have gone up than where they have gone down and I agree but i think your statement that kiwis are really better off is not correct. to validate your statement You should be also looking at market indicators. Are people working the same hours they used to 5 years ago , are they investing money like they used to.
Your article also lacks clear time frames. You reference 5 years ago , well that’s fine but how well off we were 10 years ago ? what about 30 years ago ?
37 per cent of households have mortgages. What was the rate of home ownership 5 - 10 years ago , could only 37% of households afford mortgages where’s if people were better off this would have been higher?
My final point is your article dose use average a lot and you did well to explain a lot of the misconceptions associated with this. But does the cpi include items people have cut from their budgets? if you want to know how an average family runs . Come around to my house one evening. In fact I would love the opportunity for you to come around one evening and have dinner to convince me that I am better off than an average household several years ago. ( do you like noodles )

Today I found a nice little blog that critique's other blogs. I have email them to have a look at mine. Lets see what they have to say. I am still a little ashamed of the news feeds section but i don't have time at the moment to fix it.

News feeds. Although not perfect and not exactly new I decided to run a new feed page . This grabs RSS feeds from several sites and displays them in a nice clickable array. This wont necessarily increase traffic to my site but I hope some people that are getting click through to their site feel some link love. If you want in leave a comment below and I may just add your feeds to the list.

Again this is actually getting harder. Any way today I singed up to FeedBurner . this is an Rss Aggregator and will allow me to start getting some stats on how many readers in am getting via RSS.
